Can Aloe Vera cure, help, treat or prevent Psoriasis?
The following information is for humans with Psoriasis
Introduction to Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a dabilitating disease of the skin that many 'put up with'. Psoriasis causes skin cells to reproduce themselves every other day instead of every 21 to 30 days
Like Eczema there is no known cure but various 'symptom surpressors' exist. In conventional medicine this normally takes the form of steriod cream but with long term use it weakens and thins the skin.
The cause is unknown although it is generally agreed that it is, in part, psychosomatic because stress brings it on in many people. In a perfectly functioning body there is a between two substances called Cyclic AMP and Cyclic GMP. Some researchers have shown that poor digestion of proteins causes rotting and bacteria which in turn produces a toxic amino acid (poliamine) which breaks down this balance.

Using Aloe Vera for Psoriasis
Drink a high quality Aloe Vera Gel 3 or 4 times a day. Start on a small amount (1 desert spoon) and build up to 3 or 4 desertspoons, 3 or 4 times a day.
WHY? Because toxins have already built up in the body it is necessary to clean the body through. Aloe is an exceptionally effective cleanser. It will also help clean the digestive tract so the body can absorb more proteins
Start taking fish oil tablets made from the Oil of Fish under the Artic Ice Cap.
WHY? Omega 3 in the fish oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, EPA and GLA which are all necessary to aleviate Psoriasis
If the skin is broken apply a high quality Aloe Gelatine where Aloe Vera is the number one ingredient.
WHY? Aloe is a cell rejuvenator and will increase the rate at which the body is able to produce healthy skin cells. With the Aloe you drink it will work from the bottom level of the skin pushing healthy cells outward.
If the skin is not broken, after two weeks of drinking Gel, start applying a cream made up of Bee Propolis and Aloe Vera (where Aloe is the number one ingredient)
Bee Propolis is the most powerful natural antibiotic known to man and will help the body fight off infection on the skin as well as relieve any itching
There are also a number of other supplements that may need to be considered depending on the individual circumstance.
How long will it take for Aloe Vera to work with Psoriasis?
Because Aloe works from the bottom layer of the skin it will help the body build healthy skin cells which will push up and outward as well as bring the body back into balance. The external result is that the skin may look worse before it looks better but stick with it.
Recovery time will depend on the diet, other ailments and the quality of the products being used.
As a very general rule of thumb allow one month for every year of Psoriasis.
Articles and Studies about Aloe Vera and Psoriasis
Vogler BK, Ernst E. Aloe vera: a systematic review of its clinical effectiveness. British Journal of General Practice 1999;49:823-828.
Patients with plaque psoriasis had a greater reduction in disease activity when treated with topical aloe vera compared with a topical steroid, data from a randomized trial demonstrated.
The study involved 80 patients.
Dr. Choonhakarn, International Congress of Dermatology, 26th May 2009
The treatment was well tolerated by all the patients, with no adverse drug-related symptoms and no dropouts. By the end of the study, the Aloe vera extract cream had cured 25/30 patients (83.3%) compared to the placebo cure rate of 2/30 (6.6%)
